There's an exciting new event at the Penguins Need Trees, Too book fair: a picnic to benefit the fight against Alzheimer's!
The cost to get in to the picnic will be minimal and donations are always accepted!
Enjoy a pre-made basket full of sandwiches, potato salad, drinks, a special treat and a blanket for you to decide where you'd like to eat! A section of the park will be sectioned off for this event.
For more information about the cause, check out Maggie's blog: fightforalzheimers.blogspot.com
We look forward to seeing you all out on the grass! :)

No Pulitzer for Fiction in 2012?
Readers:
I don't know if you have heard yet, but for 2012 there was not a winner of the Pulitzer Prize. Why, you ask?
What I heard on news radio this morning was that it was because the judges were torn between three novels and couldn't decide on one, therefore not rewarding anyone.
For more information, you can click here for an article from the New York Times: artsbeat.blog.newyorktimes.com

Authors ARE Celebrities!
Hey there, book addicts!
I was thinking back to a writer's conference I attended a few years ago when I got to meet author Carl Hiaasen. To me, it was like meeting a celebrity. I lost my breath, had no idea what to say and found myself blushing.
The weirdest thing? I wasn't even a huge fan of his books!
Have you ever had the same reaction when you've met an author?

Book Fair with Stephanie Meyer!
Hey, followers!
I've been working on an event for any readers out there - a book fair in Central Park! I'm really excited about it. We're calling it "Penguins Need Trees, Too." Like this:
We're lining up authors to get involved right now, but one of the people we have confirmed is none other than Stephanie Meyer of the Twilight series! She'll be there for a reading, signings and a meet & greet!
All the details for the event are being worked on and it's tentatively scheduled for April 2013.
I'm thinking about setting up some prizes, like e-readers and passes for private meet & greets with our more famous authors. What kind of contests do you think we should have for them?
Looking forward to your feedback! I'll keep you all in touch with details as they come.
